NEW REPORT ON KEY INDICATORS OF LABOUR MARKET TO BE LAUNCHED

The International Labour Office (ILO) will issue its new biennial Key Indicators of the Labour Market (KILM) which provides a comprehensive analysis of the global labour market using world and regional estimates and country-level data.  The fifth edition of KILM will be issued under embargo on Thursday, 30 August, for publication on or after 23:00 GMT on 2 September.

KILM, by publishing 20 key indicators of the labour market, analyses a wide range of global trends including:  employment and variables relating to employment (status, sector, hours, etc.), the lack of work and the characteristics of jobseekers, education, wages and compensation costs, labour productivity and the working poor.

Through a comprehensive collection, organization and analysis of labour market information, this fifth edition of KILM provides more insight and new measurements on what ILO calls “decent work deficits” worldwide, expanding the knowledge base on the relationships between poverty, decent work deficits and labour underutilization.

KILM will be available to the media on request, from the ILO Department of Communication in Geneva, New York, Washington, Bangkok, Addis Ababa, and elsewhere, please contact communication@ilo.org for further sources.  An executive summary of KILM is available upon request in English, French and Spanish (PDF file).  A press release will be available by 30 August under embargo as stated above.
