U Thant Institute To Launch Friendship Across Cultures Programme 13 June

 


At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 13 June, the U Thant Institute will launch its Friendship across Cultures Programme in the Dag Hammarskjöld Auditorium.  The Programme’s goal is to create a network of students from middle schools around the world to advance peace and promote international understanding through relevant activities in the areas of literature, social science, politics and the arts.


Among those speaking at the launch will be Ban Soon-taek, the wife of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; Ibrahim Gambari, Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General; and Daw Aye Aye Thant, founder of the Institute and daughter of the third Secretary-General, U Thant.


Correspondents are invited to attend, and a reception will follow the programme.
