Economic and Social Council adopts revised provisional agenda
for 2007 organizational session
The Economic and Social Council adopted today an orally revised version of the provisional agenda for its 2007 Organizational Session.
During its meeting this afternoon, the attention of members was drawn to Council decision 2006/212 regarding rural development in developing countries and members agreed that reference to it would be included in the provisional agenda. Following discussions, the Council then agreed to revise those portions of the provisional agenda relating to the Council’s basic programme of work and its high-level segment.
Council members heard statements by the representatives of Germany (on behalf of the European Union), Pakistan (on behalf of the “Group of 77” developed countries and China), United States and Canada (also on behalf of Australia and New Zealand).
The Economic and Social Council will meet again at a date and time to be announced.
