SECURITY COUNCIL AL-QAIDA, TALIBAN SANCTIONS COMMITTEE REVISES ITS GUIDELINES

 

Following intensive efforts by all its members, the Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee on 29 November revised its guidelines for the conduct of its work.  The revision concerns section 6 of the guidelines dealing with listing procedures.  The Committee trusts that the revised guidelines will serve as a better tool for rationalizing its own work and provide useful guidance to Member States in their implementation efforts.

Pursuant to paragraph 18 of resolution 1617 (2005), the Committee intends to complete its work with respect to the revision of delisting procedures as soon as possible.
