Cultural event to be held at Headquarters in observance of International Day
of Solidarity with Palestinian People, 29 November
A Palestinian art exhibit, entitled “Contextualization: A Palestinian Narrative,” will be presented by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in cooperation with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations. The exhibit will be displayed at the north-east corner of the Public Lobby of the General Assembly Building from 29 November to 13 December 2006.
The opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on 29 November at the exhibit area. Remarks at the opening will be made by Amb. Paul Badji ( Senegal), Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People; Farouk Kaddoumi, Head of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization; and Reem Fadda, Director of the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art.
The President of the General Assembly, the Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, all permanent representatives to the United Nations, civil society representatives, and high-level Secretariat officials have been invited to the opening event.
The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed in accordance with the provisions of General Assembly resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977.
