Dag Hammarskjöld conversation on ‘the international civil servant’
to take place on Thursday, 2 February
Secretary-General, General Assembly President,
Former Under-Secretary-General Brian Urquhart to Participate
The Dag Hammarskjöld Library/Department of Public Information is organizing the fifth and final event of the Lectures and Conversations Series to conclude the year-long commemoration of the centenary of the birth of former United Nations Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld.
It will be held on Thursday, 2 February, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 3.
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan is expected to open the event, titled “The International Civil Servant: Then and Now, Theory and Practice”. Shashi Tharoor, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, will interview Brian Urquhart, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, and Jan Eliasson, President of the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.
The series is being organized with the support of the Government of Sweden.
