Biographical Note


NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ALBANIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Albania’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Adrian Neritani, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan today.


Prior to this assignment, Mr. Neritani worked as a lawyer with a private legal firm, Cullison & Cullison, P.C., in Chicago, United States (2003-present).  In 2000-2001, also in Chicago, he was an independent adviser on immigration issues for trade and international business.


Mr. Neritani started his diplomatic career in 1991, when he became a Desk Officer in charge of the United States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania.  He remained with the Ministry until 1999, serving as a Desk Officer in charge of China and the Far East (1993-1997), and First Secretary and Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at Albania’s Embassy in Beijing, China (1997-1998).  From 1989 to 1991, he was a Lecturer at “Luigi Gurakuqi” University in Shkodra, Albania.


Mr. Neritani holds a political science diploma from the Philosophy Department of the University of Tirana, Albania (1989) and a law degree from the Legal Department of the same University (1996).  In 1993, he also received a Master in Diplomacy degree from the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, University of Malta; and, in 2002, a Master of Laws in International Business and Trade Law from the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago.  He has been admitted to the Bar in the United States.


Born on 26 October 1967 in Lushnja, Albania, Mr. Neritani is married, with two children.
