SECURITY COUNCIL ADOPTS ANNUAL REPORT TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY
In a brief meeting this morning, the Security Council adopted its annual report to the General Assembly for the period 1 August 2004 to 31 July 2005.
The annual report to the General Assembly is required by Article 15, paragraph 1 and Article 24, paragraph 3 of the United Nations Charter.
In introductory remarks, Tuliameni Kalomoh, the Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said the annual report had been prepared by the Secretariat in line with the revised format agreed upon by the Council in 2002. The draft report provided a guide to the Council’s activities in a concise manner. It was the fourth report prepared in accordance with the President’s note of 22 May 2002 (document S/2002/199), which was aimed at enhancing the quality of the report. Of particular interest was the introduction, which contained an analytical summary of the Council’s work.
The meeting began at 10:15 a.m. and adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
