PRESS STATEMENT BY SECURITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT ON PALESTINIAN ELECTIONS

Following is today’s press statement on the Palestinian elections by Security Council President César Mayoral (Argentina):

The Security Council welcomes the presidential elections of the Palestinian Authority held yesterday, 9 January 2005.

Members of the Security Council congratulate the Palestinian people on this election.

The Security Council will discuss this matter in depth next Thursday, 13 January 2005.
