Secretary-General thanks Colin Powell for ‘close and productive’

 

relationship over past four years

 

The following statement was issued today by Secretary-General Kofi Annan:

I have spoken to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell since he announced his resignation.  I thanked him for the close and productive relationship I have enjoyed with him over the past four years, during which we worked together on a wide range of issues of concern to the international community.  I have always valued his wise counsel and objective approach.  I conveyed to my good friend, Colin L. Powell, my best wishes for the future.
