SECRETARY-GENERAL says united states decision not to seek Security Council

resolution on icc will help maintain council unity

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General has been following the discussions in the Security Council on the International Criminal Court.  He believes that the decision by the United States not to pursue a resolution on this matter will help maintain the unity of the Security Council at a time when it faces difficult challenges.
