COLLEGE MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE TO MEET AT UN HEADQUARTERS ON 6, 10 APRIL
The United Nations will host the Annual National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN) on Tuesday, 6 April, and Saturday, 10 April.
The largest Model United Nations conference in the world, the NMUN creates an educational simulation of the United Nations which offers students first-hand experience in diplomacy. By assuming the role of delegates to the United Nations, students gain an invaluable learning experience that broadens their understanding of global issues and their appreciation of the role of the United Nations in the world.
This year, participants represent 190 colleges and universities from four continents. Over 3,100 students are expected to attend the conference.
On Tuesday, 6 April, there will be two opening ceremonies in the General Assembly Hall, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The keynote speaker for the first opening ceremony is Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Under-Secretary-General of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and, for the second, Jose Antonio Ocampo, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.
The NMUN will hold its final plenary sessions and closing session in various UN conference rooms and in the General Assembly Hall on Saturday, 10 April.
