NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE
TO MEET AT UN HEADQUARTERS ON 17, 20 MARCH
This week, the United Nations will host the National High School Model United Nations Conference (NHSMUN) on 17 and 20 March 2004.
The NHSMUN will bring a total of over 2,100 high school students from across the United States and from several other countries to United Nations Headquarters. Through simulations of the United Nations’ major committees and by taking on the role of delegates to the United Nations, students gain an invaluable learning experience –- an experience that broadens their understanding of global issues and their appreciation of the role of the United Nations.
The NHSMUN will hold its opening session in the General Assembly Hall on Wednesday, 17 March at 6:30 p.m. Desmond Johns, Director, Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) will address the opening session. The Conference will then hold its final plenary session and closing session in various United Nations conference rooms and in the General Assembly Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, 20 March.
