MEDIA ARRANGEMENTS FOR COVERAGE OF 19 JANUARY MEETINGS OF SECRETARY-GENERAL

WITH COALITION AUTHORITY, GOVERNING COUNCIL ON IRAQ

The following is a planning schedule for correspondents who wish to cover Monday’s meetings regarding Iraq:

-- 9 a.m.:  The Iraqi Governing Council delegation meets the Secretary-General for a courtesy call.  Press coverage:  Photo-op open to international media, UNTV, UN Photo.  Location:  38^th floor conference room.

-- 9:30a.m.:  The Coalition Provisional Authority delegation meets with the Secretary-General for a courtesy call.  Press coverage:  Photo-op open to international media, UNTV, UN Photo.  Location:  38^th floor conference room.

-- 10 a.m.:  Start of the Secretary-General’s meeting with the Coalition Provisional Authority and the Iraqi Governing Council.  Press coverage:  Photo-op open to international media, UNTV, UN Photo.  Location:  Conference Room 8, first basement.

-- 11:30 a.m. (tentative):  The Secretary-General reads a Chairman’s summary and takes questions from the press.  Press coverage:  open.  Location:  Conference Room 4.  French/English/Arabic interpretation will be provided.

-- 5 p.m.:  Meeting of the Security Council with the Iraqi Governing Council.  The Secretary-General will attend but is not expected to deliver a statement.  Press coverage:  closed.  The stakeout microphone outside the Security Council will be operational during the meeting.
