ENHANCED VERSION OF UN BIBLIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM
NOW AVAILABLE ON INTERNET
The Dag Hammarskjöld Library today announced the launch of an enhanced version of the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet).
UNBISnet may be accessed directly at http://unbisnet.un.org or by selecting the link on the Library’s home page http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl.
The improvements to UNBISnet include a more user-friendly interface, faster response time, enhanced search features, such as the ability to combine searches, as well as better printing and e-mailing capabilities. UNBISnet now includes links to full text for General Assembly and Security Council resolutions and statements of the President of the Security Council in the six official languages of the United Nations, where available. Expansion of full text linking to additional documents is planned for the near future.
UNBISnet remains the primary index to United Nations documentation published since 1979, or earlier for selected major documents. It also includes the catalogue of the collections of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library.
A special area of UNBISnet may be accessed to view detailed voting records of resolutions adopted by the General Assembly since 1983, and the Security Council since 1946.
Another special file contains speech citations for the main United Nations organs: the General Assembly, since 1983; Security Council, since 1983; Economic and Social Council, since 1983; and the Trusteeship Council, since 1982.
Users are encouraged to send comments and suggestions to the DHL Webmaster, dhl_www@un.org, so that the site can be continually improved in response to users' needs.
