MEMORIAL FOR UNITED NATIONS STAFF TO BE UNVEILED

GENEVA, 21 October (UN Information Service) -- A memorial dedicated to United Nations staff who have given their lives in the service of peace will be unveiled in the Ariana Park near Door 20 of the Palais des Nations (Library Building) on United Nations Day, Friday, 24 October, at noon.

The memorial honours the memory of all United Nations staff members who have died working for the Organization, and is a tribute to their achievements and sacrifice in the service of the human family.  It is a unique and collective tribute made possible through the contribution of the United Nations Secretary-General, United Nations programmes and funds, specialized agencies, as well as staff associations and individual staff members in a spirit of solidarity and respect.
