NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ARMENIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Armen Martirosian, the new Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
From 1999 until the present, Mr. Martirosian was Armenia’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs. Between 1990 and 1999, he was elected to two terms as a Member of Parliament, and from 1995 to 1999, he also served as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget.
Mr. Martirosian also served in the following positions: Chief Executive Officer of Haieconombank (1996-1998); Deputy Director of Hrazdanmash Factory (1994-1996); International Relations Adviser to the Armenian Prime Minister (1992-1993); and Engineer at Hrazdanmash Factory (1983-1992).
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1961, Mr. Martirosian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Yerevan Polytechnic University and speaks Armenian, Russian and English.
He is married and has two sons.
