Biographical Note


NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Vsevolod Grigore, the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.


Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Grigore was Minister-Counselor at his country's embassy in Washington, D.C., from 1999 to 2002.  From 1996 to 1999, he served as Counselor, Deputy Director and Director General in the Department of Europe and North America in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 


Mr. Grigore has also held a number of teaching positions and was Head of the Department of Modern Languages at Moldovan Independent International University from 1994 to 1996.


The holder of a doctoral degree in Linguistics from the Institute of Foreign Languages in Minsk, Belarus (1987), Mr. Grigore was also the recipient of a post-doctoral research fellowship of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, Universite de Paris X, France, from 1994 to 1995. 


Born in Jora de Jos, Republic of Moldova, in 1958, Mr. Grigore is married with one son.
