SANCTIONS COMMITTEES ELECTED FOR 2002
NEW YORK, 4 January (Department of Political Affairs) -- Pursuant to paragraph 4 (b) of the note by the President of the Security Council dated
30 October 1998 (S/1016) and after consultations among the members of the Council, it was agreed to elect the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the following sanctions committees for the period running until 31 December 2002:
Security Council Committee established by resolution 661 (1990) concerning the situation between Iraq and Kuwait:
Chairman: Ole Peter Kolby (Norway)
Vice-Chairmen: Bulgaria and Mauritius
Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 748 (1992)
concerning Libya:
Chairman: François Lonseny Fall (Guinea)
Vice-Chairmen: Bulgaria and Ireland
Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 751 (1992)
concerning Somalia:
Chairman: Stefan Tafrov (Bulgaria)
Vice-Chairmen: Mexico and Norway
