Biographical Note
NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF KYRGYZSTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Kamil Baialinov, the new Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Baialinov was Adviser to the President of Kyrgyzstan during the past year, after having served as Ambassador to Austria from 1996 to 2000, with accreditation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Baialinov was Press Secretary to the Kyrgyz President.
From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Baialinov was a correspondent of two newspapers: Komsomolskaya Pravda of Kyrgyzstan; and Moscow News, for Central Asia. He served in the military from 1986 to 1988, and from 1982 to 1985, he worked for the Central Committee of a youth organization in Bishkek.
Mr. Baialinov received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in history (1982) from the Kyrgyz State University, Bishkek, and a Master's degree in history from the Institute of Political Sciences, Moscow (1989).
Born on 15 December 1959 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Baialinov is married with three daughters.
