Biographical Note
NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ERITREA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Ahmed Tahir Baduri, the new Permanent Representative of Eritrea, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Baduri served as the Director-General of the Eritrea Investment Center, a position he held from 1997 to 2000. From 1995 to 1997, he was also the Commissioner of the Eritrean Relief and Refugee Commission, and from 1991 to 1993, Mr. Baduri was his country's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
From 1987 to 1991, he served as the Deputy Head of the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) Foreign Relations Department.
He has also been the head of Political Affairs, EPLF Office in the Sudan (1986-1987); head of the Information Office of the EPLF Foreign Relations in Paris (1983-1985); head of the EPLF Information Department in the Field (1977-1983); and head of the EPLF Office in Aden, Yemen (1972-1975). From 1970 to 1972, Mr. Baduri was an EPLF fighter in the field.
Mr. Baduri is a graduate of the University of Allepo, Syria.
Born 23 October 1946 in Hirgigo, Eritrea, Mr. Baduri is married with two children.
