NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWAZILAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

20000301 Biographical Note

Clifford Sibusiso Mamba, the new Permanent Representative of Swaziland, presented his credentials to Secretary-General Kofi Annan today.

Before assuming this post, Mr. Mamba was his country's Ambassador to Malaysia. He has earlier served as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and from 1991 to 1996 as Ambassador to Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland and the European Union.

Mr. Mamba has participated in various regional and international ambassadorial groups, acting as chairman of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States Committee of Ambassadors and Chairman of the ACP Ambassadorial Subcommittee for Sugar. In 1996, he was Dean of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) ambassadors.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in social sciences from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom and has attended the Seoul Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies in the Republic of Korea.

Mr. Mamba, who is married, was born on 5 May 1963.
