EXHIBIT OF CHILDRENS ART TO OPEN AT HEADQUARTERS
19991216Visions of the New Millennium, an exhibit of selected works from around the world by artists, photographers and writers between the ages of six and eighteen, will be inaugurated in the Visitors Lobby on Friday, 17 December, at 3:30 p.m.
Nane Annan will officially open the exhibit, which is co-sponsored by the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and International Paint Pals. Other participating organizations include Youth Art Connection, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Kenya/Kiboyoko Project, International Child Art Foundation, Friendship Dolls and Survivors Art Foundation. The organizers will present a painting from the collection to Mrs. Annan in appreciation for the cooperation of the United Nations in this project.
Visions of the New Millennium consists of more than 300 artworks, including silk panels, pastels, watercolors, essays, photographs, ceramics and masks. The pieces were contributed in response to an invitation to young artists to express their hopes and expectations for the new millennium. The exhibit will remain on view in the Visitors Lobby through 28 February 2000.
