SECRETARY-GENERAL PAYS TRIBUTE TO AMINTORE FANFANI, ITALIAN STATESMAN

The following statement was issued by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan on 20 November:

The Secretary-General would like to pay tribute to Senator Amintore Fanfani, a world statesman and former President of the United Nations General Assembly, who died today.

He sends his heartfelt condolences to the Italian Government, the people of Italy and the family of Senator Fanfani.
