SECRETARY-GENERAL WELCOMES ACTION OF UNITED STATES SENATE ON PARTIAL PAYMENT OF COUNTRY'S ARREARS TO UNITED NATIONS
19990622 The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Kofi Annan:The Secretary-General welcomes the action of the United States Senate in approving an authorization bill containing funds in partial payment of United States arrears to the United Nations.
He hopes that this will be a first step towards the United States making good on its obligations to the United Nations.
