NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN MAY

19990430 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for May:

Security Council

Denis Dangue Rewaka (Gabon) succeeds Alain Dejammet (France) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Lieutenant General Anatoliy I. Meleshkov (Russian Federation) succeeds Major General Jean-Francois Louvion (France) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
