NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN FEBRUARY

19990201 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for February:

Security Council

Robert R. Fowler (Canada) succeeds Celso L.N. Amorim (Brazil) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Lieutenant General Edward G. Anderson III (United States) succeeds Major General Charles G.C. Vyvyan (United Kingdom) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
