UNITED NATIONS DOCUMENTARY TO BE SHOWN ON HISTORY CHANNEL
19990107 The human rights documentary "For Everyone Everywhere", produced by the Department of Public Information (DPI) as part of its extensive programme marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, will be telecast on the History Channel of the Arts and Entertainment Network on Monday, 25 January, at 9 a.m. It will be shown commercial free."For Everyone Everywhere" tells the story of how the Universal Declaration of Human Rights came into being. This special one-hour documentary shows how the idea of human rights came about and how the international community overcame the barriers of language, culture and cold war politics to forge a truly universal document; it contains rare archival footage and was shot on four continents.
This programme, which has already enjoyed worldwide distribution, is also available in a half-hour condensed version in the six official languages of the United Nations.
The History Channel has previously aired, among others, the DPI award- winning programme "A Place to Stand".
