NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN DECEMBER

19981130 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for December:

Security Council

Jassim Mohammed Buallay (Bahrain) succeeds A. Peter Burleigh (United States) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Major General Aleksandr N. Tishchenko (Russian Federation) succeeds Brigadier General Jean-François Louvion (France) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
