'INFORMATION TO GO', AN ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SHOWCASE, TO BE HELD BY DAG HAMMARSKJOLD LIBRARY ON 12 NOVEMBER
19981110 In its continuing efforts to make the permanent missions aware of the vast array of information resources that can be accessed remotely, the Department of Public Information (DPI) Dag Hammarskjold Library will be presenting "Information to Go", an electronic information showcase, on Thursday, 12 November. The event will take place in the concourse level of the General Assembly Building (adjacent to the Vienna Cafe) and will be ongoing between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Delegates and staff of the permanent missions are invited to stop by and see presentations of the Economist Intelligence Unit's "EIU Internet Database" and "EIU Viewswire", "Oxford Analytica", "NewsEdge", "ProQuest Direct" and "Lexis-Nexis Xchange". If missions have not yet registered for their unique passwords, they will be able to do so at the showcase. Additionally, any questions regarding renewals for 1999 may be addressed there as well.
Also to be presented will be the Optical Disk System (ODS) as well as WWW-accessible reference tools created by the Dag Hammarskjold Library (UN-I- QUE, Resguide, etc.) that can assist mission personnel needing access to United Nations documentation.
In order to introduce the permanent missions to the rich array of cartographic databases on the Internet and in the Library's CD-ROM collection, demonstrations of those resources will be conducted as well.
