NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN OCTOBER

19981001 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for October:

Security Council

Sir Jeremy Greenstock succeeds Hans Dahlgren (Sweden) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Major General Chen Fuyuan (China) succeeds Vice-Admiral John Scott Redd (United States) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
