2001 SHOULD BE YEAR OF DIALOGUE AMONG CIVILIZATIONS, PRESIDENT OF IRAN TELLS GENERAL ASSEMBLY CORRECTION
19980924In Press Release GA/9466 of 21 September, the first full paragraph on page 13 should read as follows:
KIM CHANG GUK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), speaking in exercise of the right of reply to remarks made by Keizo Obuchi, the Prime Minister of Japan, said that in the wake of his country's satellite launch, Japan had made public all-out sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and instigated gangsters to assault Korean nationals in Japan, claiming that the satellite launch posed a threat to security and calling for strike on his country's missile bases. Such acts of Japan were a threat to the region's peace and security. The satellite launch was a matter entirely within the sovereignty of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Japan was using the launch as an excuse to realize its militaristic ambition. Japan's talk of sanctions was ridiculous, because his country was fully used to sanctions and had lived for over 50 years under United States and Japanese sanctions and blockades. He concluded by saying that "Time is changing against Japan's wishes. Today is not 1950s when Japan earned a big lump of money by serving logistic support to the United States Army during the Korean war. It is very important for the Japanese authorities to know correctly about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and its people."
