NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN SEPTEMBER

19980831 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for September:

Security Council

Hans Dahlgren (Sweden) succeeds Danilo Türk (Slovenia) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Vice-Admiral John Scott Redd (United States) succeeds Major General Charles G.C. Vyvyan (United Kingdom) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
