ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT SAYS EXPLOSIONS IN KENYA AND UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA WERE ACTS OF INSANE AND BARBAROUS TERROR
19980807 The following statement was issued today by the President of the General Assembly, Hennadiy Udovenko (Ukraine):The President of the General Assembly was shocked to learn about the two explosions near the United States Embassies in Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania, which should be considered an insult to the international community as a whole. The blasts, that took the lives of dozens and injured hundreds of innocent people, were nothing else but acts of insane and barbarous terror, which cannot be excused or tolerated.
The President of the General Assembly conveyed his sincere condolences to the families and colleagues of the victims of these monstrous assaults. He also expressed his deep concern over the growing number of instances of brutal and unwarrantable attacks on international officers and diplomats that took place in different parts of the world in recent times.
