NEW CHAIRMAN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN JUNE

19980601 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for June:

Security Council

António Monteiro (Portugal) succeeds Njuguna M. Mahugu (Kenya) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Brigadier-General Jean Francois Louvion (France) succeeds Major-General Fuyuan Chen (China) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
