YUGOSLAVIA SANCTIONS COMMITTEE ELECTS BUREAU FOR 1998

19980403 The following was issued today by the Security Council Committee established by resolution 1160 (1998) concerning the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia:

By paragraph 9 of its resolution 1160 (1998) of 31 March, the Security Council established a Committee, composed of all members of the Council, in order to undertake the tasks specified in that resolution.

On 3 April, the President of the Security Council, Hisashi Owada (Japan), convened the first meeting of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1160 (1998) to elect its Bureau for 1998.

The composition of the elected Bureau is as follows:

Chairman: Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim (Brazil) Vice-Chairmen: Kenya, Portugal
