SECURITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON ANGOLA ISSUES FIRST LIST OF UNITA OFFICIALS AFFECTED BY TRAVEL BAN
19971219Following is the text of a statement issued today by the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 864 (1993) concerning the situation in Angola:
In accordance with the mandate entrusted to it by the Security Council under paragraph 11 (a) of resolution 1127 (1997) of 28 August, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 864 (1993) concerning the situation in Angola has issued today its first list of senior officials of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) whose entry or transit is to be prevented by all States, and whose travel documents, visas or residence permits are to be suspended or cancelled in accordance with paragraphs 4 (a) and 4 (b) of the aforementioned resolution.
This list is being transmitted to Member States and international organizations/agencies for their information and use as necessary, and will be updated on a regular basis. The Committee is currently considering additional names provided to it, including adult members of the immediate families of senior officials of UNITA.
