SECURITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON SITUATION IN ANGOLA ADOPTS NEW CONSOLIDATED GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCTING ITS WORK

19971031 By resolution 1127 (1997) adopted on 28 August, the Security Council, acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, imposed additional measures against the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), including restrictions on the travel of senior members of UNITA and adult members of their immediate families, as well as the closing of UNITA offices. These measures came into force at 00.01 EST on 30 October. Subsequently, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 864 (1993) concerning the situation in Angola today adopted the new consolidated guidelines for the conduct of its work.

The new consolidated guidelines will be transmitted to all States and international organizations/agencies.
