NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS PANEL DISCUSSION ON DRUGS IN WORKPLACE AND COMMUNITY TO BE HELD AT HEADQUARTERS ON 28 OCTOBER

A panel discussion on "Drugs in the Workplace and the Community" will be held at Headquarters from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, 28 October, in Conference Room 7.

Organized by the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the panel will be moderated by James R. O'Hair, Manager of Employee Assistance Programme at Northrop Grumman ESSD Corporation. Other speakers will include Captain James T. Quarles, Executive Chairman for Aeromedical Resources, Airlines Pilots Association; Augustin Velez-Barajas, Manager, Model Programmes of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention among Workers and their Families, Mexico; Bertrand Juppin de Fondaumiere, Deputy Executive Director, UNDCP, and Behrouz Shahandeh, Senior Adviser on Drugs and Alcohol Rehabilitation, ILO.

Discussions will address policies for a drug-free work environment, counselling of drug abusing employees and related matters.
