NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS PRESIDENT OF MOZAMBIQUE TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS ON 20 AND 22 OCTOBER

President Joaquim Alberto Chissano of Mozambique will visit United Nations Headquarters on Monday, 20 October, and Wednesday, 22 October, to address the General Assembly, confer with Secretary-General Kofi Annan and hold a press conference.
At 9:55 a.m. on Monday, 20 October, President Chissano and his party will arrive at the Delegates Entrance, where he will be received by the Chief of Protocol and proceed by special elevator to the second floor of the Conference Building and walk to room 226 for a press conference, after which he will proceed, escorted by the Chief of Protocol, and to the Delegates Entrance, where he will leave Headquarters.
At 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, 22 October, the President and his party will return to Headquarters, through the Delegates Entrance, where he will be received by the Secretary-General. He will receive a salute by the honour guard. The President and the Secretary-General, escorted by the Chief of Protocol, will then proceed by special elevator to the second floor and to room GA-200.
The President will confer with the Secretary-General in his office, in room GA-200, and at the invitation of the Vice-President of the Assembly, President Chissano, will enter the Assembly Hall to deliver his address. Later, escorted by the Chief of Protocol, President Chissano will proceed to the first basement to Studio H for a radio interview.
At 11:30 a.m., in the presence of the Secretary-General, President Chissano will unveil a gift from the People of Mozambique to the United Nations in the south lobby on the first floor and formally open an art exhibit. The President and the Secretary-General will make short statements.
Escorted by the Chief of Protocol, the President will leave Headquarters by the Delegates Entrance.
