SECURITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON SIERRA LEONE HOLDS FIRST MEETING
19971015 Council Resolution 1132 (1997) Asked Committee To Supervise Oil and Arms Embargo, Travel Restrictions on Military JuntaThe Committee established by the Security Council to supervise the implementation of the oil and arms embargo, as well as restrictions on the travel of members of the military junta of Sierra Leone and adult members of their families, held its first meeting today, and elected Ambassador Hans Dahlgren (Sweden) to be its Chairman. The delegations of Costa Rica and Kenya were elected Vice-Chairmen.
The Committee will promulgate guidelines to facilitate the implementation of the measures indicated.
The Committee is composed of all members of the Security Council, and is formally known as the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1132 (1997) concerning Sierra Leone.
