NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS PRESIDENT OF SLOVENIA TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS

19970919 ON 22 AND 24 SEPTEMBER

The President of Slovenia, Milan Kucan, will visit United Nation Headquarters on Monday and Wednesday, 22 and 24 September, to address the General Assembly and confer with Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

At 12:45 p.m. on Monday, 22 September, the President and his party will arrive at the Delegates Entrance, where he will be received by the Secretary- General. He will then be escorted to the West Foyer to join the other Heads of State and Government at a luncheon hosted in their honour by the Secretary- General. Accompanied by the Secretary General, they will then proceed to the North Lounge.

Following the luncheon, which is to end at 2:50 p.m., the President will leave Headquarters by the Delegates Entrance.

At 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, 24 September, the President will return to Headquarters, arriving at the Delegates Entrance. He will be escorted to Room GA-200 and then to the General Assembly Hall to deliver his address.

Following his speech, President Kucan, accompanied by the President of the Assembly and the Secretary-General, will proceed to Room GA-200, where he will take his leave of the Assembly President.

At 4:30 p.m., the President will proceed to Room GA-200 to confer with the Secretary-General. He will then pay a courtesy visit to the President of the General Assembly. He will then leave Headquarters by the Delegates Entrance.
