NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS PRESIDENT OF GUATEMALA TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS ON 22 AND 23 SEPTEMBER

The President of Guatemala, Alvaro Arzu Irigoyen, will visit Headquarters on Monday, 22 September, and Tuesday, 23 September, to address the General Assembly, meet with Secretary-General Kofi Annan and attend a luncheon hosted by the Secretary-General.

On Monday, 22 September, the President and his party will arrive at 12:33 p.m. at the Delegates Entrance, where he will be received by the Secretary-General. The President will proceed to the West Foyer to join other Heads of State and Government for a luncheon hosted by the Secretary-General.

Following the luncheon, at 2:50 p.m., President Arzu will leave the building from the Delegates Entrance.

On Tuesday, 23 September, President Arzu and his party will arrive at 11:55 a.m. at the Delegates Entrance, where he will be received by the Chief of Protocol.

The President will proceed to Conference Room 5, where he will have a meeting with the Secretary-General and the Presidents of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.

At 12:45 p.m. President Arzu will proceed to Room GA-200, where he will confer with the Secretary-General.

After the meeting, President Arzu will leave Headquarters from the Delegates Entrance.

The President returns at 4:30 p.m. From the Delegates Entrance he will proceed to the General Assembly Hall, where, at the invitation of the President of the General Assembly, he will address the Assembly.

Following his address, President Arzu, accompanied by the President of the General Assembly and the Secretary-General, will proceed to Room GA-200, where the Assembly President and the Secretary-General will take their leave.

President Arzu will leave Headquarters from the Delegates Entrance.
