ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT EXPRESSES DEEP SADNESS OVER TRAGIC INCIDENT INVOLVING UN HELICOPTER IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
19970917 The following was issued today by the Spokesman for the President of the General Assembly, Hennadiy Udovenko (Ukraine):The President of the General Assembly has learned with deep sadness of the tragic incident involving the crash earlier today of a United Nations helicopter in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The helicopter, which was piloted by a four-member Ukrainian crew, was carrying 12 members of the United Nations- International Police Task Force (IPTF) and of the Office of the High Representative. The President of the General Assembly extends his sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash and hopes the survivors receive immediate help.
