ECLAC BIBLIOGRAPHIC DATA INSTALLED ON INTERNET
19970820 The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has successfully completed installation on the Internet of its bibliographic database, covering documentation issued by the Commission from 1948 to the present. The database includes ECLAC documents and publications, as well as those of the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) and the Latin American Demographic Centre (CELADE), published at the ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile, or at the ECLAC subregional headquarters and national offices in the region. The database, comprising some 15,000 records, includes titles presented in Spanish and English, as well as some in French. Efforts have been made to convert indexing terms to the English language, to produce an English version of the database.
Since 1989, ECLAC had made available annual editions of such information in CD-ROM format, or in updates on diskettes. From now on, readers can access ECLAC documentation through its Internet site, which will be updated monthly.
Readers can access the bibliographic data at www.eclac.cl or through the United Nations HomePage at: www.un.org /Depts/.
