NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF DENMARK PRESENTS CREDENTIALS
19970804 Biographical NoteJorgen Rud Hansen Bojer, the new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Prior to his current post, Mr. Bojer was the Danish Ambassador to Austria from 1993, including Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and the Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna.
In 1992, he held the position of Ambassador, Alternate Political Director, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1987 to 1992, he was Ambassador to Egypt, including the Sudan and Somalia.
Mr. Bojer was Head of Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1982 to 1987. He served as Counsellor at the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. (1979-1982), and as Secretary at the Embassy in Prague (1971-1973).
He began his career in 1967, as Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was Head of Section in 1970 and again from 1973 to 1978.
Mr. Bojer received a Master of Law from the University of Copenhagen.
Born on 5 March 1940, he is married and has two daughters.
