PRESIDENT OF KYRGYZ REPUBLIC TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS ON 10 JULY

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Askar A. Akayev, will visit United Nations Headquarters on Thursday, 10 July, to meet with Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the President of the General Assembly, Razali Ismail (Malaysia).

The President and his party will arrive at the Delegates Entrance at 10:50 a.m. They will be received by the Chief of Protocol and escorted to the "Manas" sculpture by the entrance of the Delegates Entrance for a photo opportunity. Visual media will record the visit.

At 11 a.m., the President, escorted by the Chief of Protocol, will proceed to the second floor and to room C-204, where he will meet with the Assembly President in his office.

At 11:30 a.m., President Akayev will be escorted by the Chief of Protocol to the 38th floor, where he will be received by the Secretary- General. They will proceed to the conference room adjacent to the Secretary- General's office. Visual media will record the visit.

The Secretary-General, the President and the Chief of Protocol will then move to the Secretary-General's office, where the President and the Secretary- General will confer.

At noon, the President and the Secretary-General will part company at the elevators. Escorted by Protocol, the President will go to the 4th floor, to Room S-491, where he will be interviewed by CNN. After the interview, President Akayev will leave Headquarters through the Secretariat Entrance.
