NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS ARRANGEMENTS FOR MEDIA COVERAGE OF CYPRUS TALKS' OPENING AT TROUTBECK, 9 JULY
19970708The accredited correspondents' bus will leave from the Secretariat driveway at 8 a.m. on 9 July. At 10:30 a.m., the bus is scheduled to arrive at the Troutbeck conference centre, in Amenia, Dutchess County, New York, where the talks will take place.
At 11 a.m., the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, Rauf Denktash, will arrive at Troutbeck. At 11:15 a.m., the leader of the Greek Cypriot community, Glafcos Clerides, will arrived at Troutbeck. At 11:30 a.m., the special envoys and representatives for Cyprus from various countries will arrive. Secretary-General Kofi Annan will arrive at 11:40 a.m.
At 11:45 a.m., all journalists, except the selected pool -- approximately 8/10 correspondents previously selected by the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) -- will take their seats in the Great Room. Afterwards, the pool will take their seats with the other correspondents. At 11:55 a.m., the two community leaders and the Secretary-General will walk towards the Great Room.
The Secretary-General will deliver his statement in the Great Room at noon, and will leave with the two community leaders immediately after.
A lunch buffet will be served to the journalists in the Great Room at 12:30 p.m.
At 2 p.m., the accredited correspondents' bus will leave from Troutbeck to Manhattan. All journalists must leave the grounds at that time.
