STATEMENT BY SECRETARY-GENERAL ON CAMBODIA

19970707 The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General is following the developments in Cambodia very closely, and has received some reports from the Office of his Representative in Phnom Penh. Communication with Cambodia has been difficult and the situation in the country remains fluid. Alvaro de Soto, Assistant Secretary- General for Political Affairs, is briefing the Council this morning on the matter at the Council's request.
