NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS TODAY

(Based on information received from the Protocol and Liaison Service.)

The President of the United States, William J. Clinton, will visit United Nations Headquarters today to address the special session of the General Assembly which is reviewing implementation of Agenda 21 and to meet with Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

The President and his party will arrive at 6 p.m. at the Delegates' Entrance, where he will be received by the Secretary-General. Accompanied by the Secretary-General and escorted by the Chief of Protocol, he will proceed to room GA-200, where the Secretary-General will take leave of the President, who will then proceed to room GA-207.

The President will then be called upon by the Assembly President to address the special session.

Following his speech, the President will be escorted by the Chief of Protocol to room GA-207, and then, together with the Secretary-General, will proceed to the West Foyer for their meeting. Visual media will record the meeting.

After the meeting, the President will proceed by escalator to the First Floor and leave Headquarters by the Delegates' Entrance.
